Tinderbox.com Tobacco Review 2022

We asked our pipe tobacco customers to participate in our Tobacco Review 2022 and the response was overwhelming. 19 people accepted our invite.
As part of the tobacco review each participant were provided with four tobaccos and a questionnaire to fill out after smoking each tobacco.
In order to conceal the tobacco names, the samples were labeled A, B, C & D.
The participant rated the tobaccos on flavor/taste, aroma, burn & overall rating, based on a five-point scale (1 = Disliked to 5 = liked).
As you look over the responses keep in mind tobacco flavor, aroma & burn vary widely and the participants may be smoking a tobacco they would not have chosen otherwise.
 We think you will find the comments very interesting.

Nik W.      (Aromatic)                 Blend A had a very nutty aroma w/a mild flavor. Did not leave a long after taste. The blend was smooth. I thought this blend burned faster than the other and I loaded my pipe more full with this blend. I came back to it a few days later and enjoyed it just as much as I did on day 1. Not a flavor I would normally buy but would consider in future purchases.

Randall W. (Aromatic)                 I must preface I’ve smoked Wilshire for years (when I was/am smoking). I find the taste on my tongue not pleasant. The aroma a bit sharp. My wife has barred it from our RV. It may be the cut, but requires relighting regularly.

Nik W. (Aromatic)                     Blend B tasted like it was hardwood smoked. I liked the smell in the pouch but did not like how smokey it tasted when I first lit up. This blend left a dry taste in my mouth that was not very flavorful. I suspect this is a blend of 2 tobaccos that don’t normally go together, and it didn’t know what it wanted to be. Smokey almost charcoal taste, was my least favorite blend.

Randall W. (Aromatic)                 I may have to rethink Wilshire. My bride-of-these-many-years told me not to finish the sample as we are heading up to the cooler temps where our RV is parked and this may be more popular with her in the enclosed space.

Nik W. (Aromatic)                     Blend C was interesting. I was tasting smoked vanilla and some light fruitiness. Looking at the color of the tobacco it was darker in color to A & B, probably from the flavoring. I would rate this as my 2nd favorite behind Blend D.

Randall W. (Aromatic)                The flavor was lite and seemed to burn cool, no lingering feeling on my tongue. The aroma was lite and “according to my wife acceptable for indoors home and RV”. I seemed to have a problem keeping my pipe lit, maybe the cut.

The aroma just drew me closer to where he was sitting. Wonderful balance that made it both smooth and bold. Lit up the room with a very wonderful fragrance. Great burn that was not leaving me reach for a light every few seconds.

Nik W. (Aromatic)                     This was by far my favorite blend. I got smells & flavors of Amaretto which took me back to when my dad smoked his pipe in the basement when I was a kid. This tasted the best out of the 4 blends. This brought back so many memories as soon as I smelled the bag. I would definitely get this blend in the future not because it was the top blend here but for the memories it invoked when smoking.

Randall W. (Aromatic)                Flavor seem a bit briny, not unpleasant. The aroma reminds my bride of cooked crab, which she loves. Holds the fire well, even when reading when sometimes I seem to check-out. “B” is still our choice, along with Wilshire, but this would be a good choice for me.
