Roberto Ascorti carves some of the finest briar pipes in the world from a small workshop in Cucciago, Italy. Each Ascorti pipe is a one-of-a-kind work — hand-carved from carefully cured and seasoned briar, shaped to follow the natural grain of the block rather than force the briar into a standardized form. No two are alike, and once a particular shape is sold, it's gone.
The Ascorti family's pipemaking pedigree runs deep. Roberto's father Peppino was a co-founder of Caminetto, one of the most celebrated names in Italian pipemaking. The skill, the eye, and the patience required to make pipes at this level are passed down — and Roberto's work is the contemporary continuation of that tradition.
Every Ascorti pipe is fitted with a hand-carved Lucite stem that never tarnishes, then presented in the brand's signature leather glove packaging. The briar itself is featherlight and absorbent thanks to the prolonged seasoning Ascorti insists on, which draws out the excess resin and moisture that lesser pipes carry. The result is a pipe that smokes cool, dry, and beautifully bowl after bowl.
Tinder Box has carried Ascorti pipes for decades. Because each pipe is a unique handmade object made in limited quantities, our Ascorti selection rotates continuously — what's available today may be gone tomorrow, and a particular shape, finish, or grain pattern is unlikely to ever be replicated. For the collector or serious pipe smoker, that scarcity is part of the appeal.
Please note: Each Ascorti pipe is hand carved and unique. Due to limited availability, individual pipes are subject to prior sale.
