Released in 2002 to mark the 75th birthday of Jose Orlando Padron, the Padron 1926 Serie is the fuller-bodied, longer-aged step up from the 1964 Anniversary. Many critics consider the No. 2 (Belicoso) to be one of the finest cigars made anywhere — a routine 95+ score earner that frequently lands on year-end "best of" lists.
Like every Padron, the 1926 Serie is box-pressed and built from 100% Nicaraguan sun-grown tobacco aged a minimum of five years before rolling. The blend hits richer, fuller, and more layered than the 1964 — earth, dark chocolate, leather, and baking spice on the Maduro side; cedar, cream, hazelnut, and white pepper on the Natural.
The line is offered in seven vitolas — the No. 2 Belicoso is the icon, the No. 35 Toro and No. 9 Robusto are the workhorses, and the 80th Anniversary commemorative edition is the rare flagship. The No. 48 Toro Gordo and No. 6 Robusto Gordo round out the format options.
If 1964 was Padron at its rising-star moment, the 1926 is Padron in full mastery.
