The blend that started it all — and a promise written into every band.
The Vow is where Avowed began. The blend was developed after founders Andrew Considine and Dave West visited Klaas Kelner's newly opened factory, Kelner Cigars S.A.S., in the spring of 2023, and it debuted as part of the company's launch in February 2025. Klaas is the son of legendary Dominican blender Henke Kelner, and The Vow set the tone for everything Avowed has done since.
What makes The Vow unusual is that each size is its own blend. Rather than simply resizing one recipe, every vitola was blended separately and given its own tweak. Each is named for the date its blend was approved — the day Avowed "committed it to history" and vowed to take it into the world.
The Two Expressions
11.25 Grand Robusto (5 1/2 x 55)
Named for November 25, 2024, the 11.25 arrived in October 2025 as a regular-production addition to the line. Its signature is a whole leaf of Brazilian Cubra in the filler, which brings a savory salinity you won't find in the other sizes. It is the fullest, roundest version of The Vow.
Avowed's tasting notes: salted butter, milk chocolate, soft pretzel, Brazil nut, and French oak, finishing long and buttery.
6.29 Toro (6 x 50)
One of the two original Vow sizes from the 2025 launch, named for June 29. The 6.29 adds a leaf of Cotúí tobacco — grown on Monika Kelner's farms in the Dominican Republic — and deliberately dials back the intensity for a more approachable, indulgent smoke that opens and closes with a gentle sweetness.
Avowed's tasting notes: creamy nougat, roasted coffee beans, pie crust, nutmeg, cashew, and French bread.
Built for Consistency
Each size of The Vow is rolled by a single dedicated pair of rollers from start to finish, which keeps every cigar in a box remarkably consistent. The cigars are then aged at the Kelner factory after rolling — Avowed cites at least 9 to 18 months depending on the size — before they ever ship.
