The Molina Ambra Sandblasted (B1) is an Italian briar pipe from Molina's Barasso workshop in Lombardy — part of the Ambra series' Black Sandblasted line, built around extra-grade briar, an amber methacrylate stem, nickel spigot-style caps, and a 9mm filter chamber.
Molina sits on part of the old Rossi factory grounds in Barasso, the Lombardy district whose name refers to the water-powered mills (mulini) that once drove local industry. Molina inherited not only the premises but also the vintage machinery and traditional production methods used by Rossi — and today uses hand-selected briar from central and southern Italy to produce workhorse pipes with an excellent price-to-quality ratio.
The Ambra series is one of Molina's traditional flagship lines — classic medium-sized shapes crafted from carefully selected extra-grade briar, offered in two finishes: Bicolor Smooth (polished with carnauba wax) and Black Sandblasted (treated with shellac for a bolder, more pronounced texture). Every Ambra pipe features Molina's signature amber-colored methacrylate stem — a hard-wearing polymer that gives the line its namesake ambra (Italian for amber) identity. Nickel caps at both the stem base and shank end create a spigot-like look while retaining the standard mortise-and-tenon joint, and the whole series is drilled for 9mm charcoal filters. Offered here in the B1, dressed in the Black Sandblasted finish.
