The Molina Barasso Sandblasted Black (190) is a tall Bent Dublin in Italian-made briar from Molina's Barasso workshop in Lombardy — part of the Barasso series, Molina's hometown-eponym line and its most extensive shape catalog, drilled for 9mm filters.
Molina sits on part of the old Rossi factory grounds in Barasso, the Lombardy district whose name refers to the water-powered mills (mulini) that once drove local industry. Molina inherited not only the premises but also the vintage machinery and traditional production methods used by Rossi — and today uses hand-selected briar from central and southern Italy to produce workhorse pipes with an excellent price-to-quality ratio.
The Barasso series takes its name from Molina's hometown — the very village in Lombardy where the workshop operates — and is Molina's most extensive catalog, with over 130 variants across sandblast, smooth, bicolor, terracotta, and other finishes. Think of it as the brand's signature workhorse line: a wide range of classic shapes at Molina's most accessible price point. Offered here in the 190 — a tall Bent Dublin with a generous flared bowl — dressed in the Black Sandblasted finish, with an acrylic saddle stem drilled for 9mm charcoal filters.
Note on shape nomenclature: Molina recently updated their shape chart. The current “190” was previously classified as the “103” — the same model throughout, but older-production pipes may still be stamped with the earlier number.
