The Molina Striato Sandblasted (D3) is a compact, classically Bent Billiard in bold contrast sandblasted Italian briar from Molina's Barasso workshop in Lombardy — part of the Striato Sandblast line, with a Cumberland-toned acrylic saddle stem, brass shank band, and an open, unfiltered draw.
Molina sits on part of the old Rossi factory grounds in Barasso, the Lombardy district whose name refers to the water-powered mills (mulini) that once drove local industry. Molina inherited not only the premises but also the vintage machinery and traditional production methods used by Rossi — and today uses hand-selected briar from central and southern Italy to produce workhorse pipes with an excellent price-to-quality ratio.
The Striato series is Molina's broad catalog of classic medium-sized shapes in sandblast, smooth, and bicolor finishes. Offered here in the D3 — a compact Bent Billiard with a straight-walled bowl on a gently curved shank that brings the weight back toward the jaw, making it easy to clench through a long bowl with the hands free. The Bent Billiard is the workhorse of pipe shapes — the one most smokers reach for first. This D3 wears the contrast sandblast, where the blasting raises the briar's grain into craggy relief and the darker tone settles into the valleys for sharp visual contrast. Finished with a Cumberland-toned acrylic saddle stem and brass shank band.
