The Molina Striato Smooth Dark Brown (ARC4) is a sharp, classic Bulldog in Italian-made smooth briar from Molina's Barasso workshop in Lombardy — part of the Striato Smooth Dark Brown line, with its signature beaded, diamond-shank profile, a Cumberland-toned acrylic stem, and a brass shank band.
Molina sits on part of the old Rossi factory grounds in Barasso, the Lombardy district whose name refers to the water-powered mills (mulini) that once drove local industry. Molina inherited not only the premises but also the vintage machinery and traditional production methods used by Rossi — and today uses hand-selected briar from central and southern Italy to produce workhorse pipes with an excellent price-to-quality ratio.
The Striato series offers 12 classic medium-sized shapes crafted from carefully selected extra-grade briar, available in three finishes: bicolor smooth, dark brown smooth (polished with carnauba wax to enhance depth and natural briar grain), and brown contrast sandblasted. Offered here in the ARC4 — a classic Bulldog shape with the signature diamond-shank profile and beaded rim detail that define the Bulldog's heritage: an angular, forward-leaning bowl with twin accenting rings at the shoulder, married to a diamond-cross-section shank that catches the light as the pipe turns. Finished in the Striato's Dark Brown smooth stain and polished with carnauba wax for depth, with a Cumberland-toned acrylic saddle stem and brass shank band.
