The Molina Zebrano Smooth (DPU2) is a tall Bent Dublin in Italian-made smooth briar from Molina's Barasso workshop in Lombardy — part of the Zebrano series, built around a dark, smoky contrast finish and drilled for 9mm charcoal filters.
Molina sits on part of the old Rossi factory grounds in Barasso, the Lombardy district whose name refers to the water-powered mills (mulini) that once drove local industry. Molina inherited not only the premises but also the vintage machinery and traditional production methods used by Rossi — and today uses hand-selected briar from central and southern Italy to produce workhorse pipes with an excellent price-to-quality ratio.
The Zebrano series takes its name from African zebrano wood, prized for its striking light-dark grain pattern reminiscent of zebra stripes. The series' dark, smoky contrast stain lets glimpses of the natural briar grain show through, and every Zebrano pipe is drilled for 9mm filters. Offered here in the DPU2 (formerly shape 103) — a tall Bent Dublin with a flared conical bowl, forward-swept shank, and a nearly six-and-a-half-inch overall length. Smoke it with a 9mm charcoal filter for a cooler, drier bowl, or unfiltered for Molina's trademark open Italian draw.
