Tobacco is supposed to grow in the valleys. This one grew in the clouds.
For more than a century the rule held: the best leaf comes from low ground — warm basins, rich flatland soil, predictable seasons. Plasencia Alma del Cielo was built to break that rule. The name means "Soul of the Sky," and the tobacco behind it was grown at roughly 1,300 meters — over 3,500 feet — above sea level at Finca San Julián in Condega, Nicaragua. It is the highest elevation ever recorded for cigar tobacco.
What Altitude Does to a Leaf
Up on the mountain the nights run cold, the sun hits harder, and the plant grows slower than it would below. That stress is the whole point. The leaf comes off thicker and more concentrated, and it carries a tension in the flavor that valley-grown tobacco simply doesn't have.
Finca San Julián is the most cherished property the Plasencia family owns. Blended by Néstor Andrés, Gustavo, and José Luis Plasencia and rolled at the family factory in Estelí, Alma del Cielo is a Nicaraguan puro from end to end — every leaf grown on Plasencia land. The Jalapa wrapper brings a measured sweetness that balances the denser high-altitude core underneath.
