One hundred and fifty-one harvests. One crop. One cigar.

"Cosecha" is Spanish for harvest, and the number on the band is not decoration. The Plasencia Cosecha 151 is built entirely from the family's 151st consecutive crop, pulled from their Honduran farms in 2016 and then left alone for years before a single leaf was rolled. It is the third chapter in the Cosecha series, following the 146 and the 149, and the one most collectors point to as the best of the three.

A True Honduran Puro

The Plasencia family has been growing tobacco since 1865. For most of that history their leaf ended up in other people's cigars — they were the quiet engine behind some of the most recognizable names in the humidor. The Cosecha line is what happens when they keep the best of it for themselves.

Every leaf in the 151 is Honduran. Wrapper, binder, and filler all come from Plasencia-owned farms, capped with a dark, oily Olancho San Agustín wrapper grown in the Olancho valley. It is rolled by hand at the family's Tabacos de Oriente factory in Danlí, El Paraíso, Honduras — and it arrives in a black dress box with gold accents, wearing three bands.

Tasting Profile

First Third

  • Roasted coffee
  • Toasted pecan
  • White pepper
  • Dry, toasty earth

Second Third

  • Dark chocolate
  • Prune and dark dried fruit
  • Baking spice
  • Oak

Final Third

  • Cinnamon

  • Lingering pepper on the finish

The draw is easy, the burn line holds, and the smoke is dense without turning harsh. Aged Honduran leaf is doing the heavy lifting here — there is nothing exotic in the blend, and that is the point.
