Powstanie Cigars is a boutique brand created by Polish-American brothers Mike and Greg Szczepankiewicz, whose brand name translates to "uprising" in Polish — a direct reference to the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 and the spirit of the Polish resistance. That spirit of defiance and precision is baked into every cigar they produce, and the San Andrés Corona Gorda is no exception.
The Corona Gorda is the fifth vitola released in the San Andrés line, featuring a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over an Ecuadorian Habano binder with a filler blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos, produced at Fábrica de Tabacos Nica Sueño S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. As co-founder Mike Szczepankiewicz put it, "This vitola really lets the San Andrés wrapper speak. The Corona Gorda brings forward the richness and texture of the blend while remaining refined and approachable.
