The Mandible is the widest vitola in the CroMagnon PA lineup — a 4 1/2 x 60 petite gordo that packs the full weight of the blend into a short, thick format. The big ring gauge means more filler relative to wrapper, and the result is exactly what the shape promises: thick, billowing smoke and a bold, campfire-like character.
CroMagnon originally wore a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. As supply of that leaf tightened, Skip Martin moved the blend to Pennsylvania Broadleaf, which shares the thick, oily character that makes Connecticut so well suited to maduro. Underneath sits a Sumatra hybrid binder over Nicaraguan and Dominican long fillers, rolled in Nicaragua.
Expect dark chocolate, cedar, espresso bean, earth, oak, and leather, with a pronounced pepper on the retrohale.
